ICD-10 Documentation Training (Webinars)

Course Description

A recent survey found that only 63% of providers' current documentation is sufficient to support the more rigorous ICD-10 requirements. If your providers don't record all details necessary for coders to accurately code in ICD-10, your practice risks facing a significant increase in denied and reduced payment claims come October 1, 2014.

Documentation will be a key issue for physicians as well as the hospitals with ICD-10. Documentation begins and ends with the practitioner. ICD-10-CM is more robust than ICD-9-CM and even if a practitioner is documenting accurately with ICD-9-CM, ICD-10 may be a challenge. It is important to begin the documentation transition now and continue to monitor improvement to documentation prior to the ICD-10 compliance date. With ICD-10-CM soon on the horizon, documentation has become the critical factor for the ICD-10 transition. Accurate clinical documentation will:

• Support ICD-10-CM codes

• Enable accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures

• Minimize claim denials

• Reduce exposure to RAC, MICs, and other payer audits

• Ensure compliance

• Improve cash flow
